Shame is Toxic

Sometimes we do things that we should not have done, or we do something that is not “right” or “wrong” but it simply makes someone else uncomfortable. In these moments we can be filled with guilt and shame as others try to correct us by weighing us down with the negativity of their judgments and unloving criticisms. Oddly, many times this is done with the best intent, yet the damage remains the same.

Shame is toxic to the soul. You should never feel ashamed of yourself. If you’ve done something you aren’t proud of, then make the situation right to the best of your ability, forgive yourself, forgive anyone else involved, and never stop loving yourself.

This isn’t easy because unfortunately we live in a world where people will try to shame us because they think that shame, blame, and judgments makes the world a better place. It doesn’t. All it does it add more pain to a world that’s already drowning in misery.

We have the tough job of rising above the collective consciousness by offering ourselves and others compassion, grace, and forgiveness – while still maintaining proper boundaries and accepting natural consequences.
